Korea Baseball News: Eddy Diaz Now Hitting Homers For SK Wyverns

By Andy Wong

SK Wyverns 3 Hyundai Unicorns 2

Was it because of money that the Hiroshima Toyo Carp released Eddy Diaz? Looks like it. Diaz does not seem to have any problems hitting a baseball. He hit a long bomb for the SK Wyverns as they squeezed past the Hyundai Unicorns 3-2 yesterday in Inchon.

Rookie Eun-bum Song picked up the victory with 2 1/3 innings of shutout baseball in relief of starter Seung-ho Lee. Ung-chun Cho picked up the save.

Samsung Lions 13 Lotte Giants 2

The Samsung Lions joined the Kia Tigers as the only undefeated Korea Baseball Organization teams as the Lions beat up the Lotte Giants 13-2 yesterday in Pusan. Leos' third baseman Han-soo Kim extended his hitting streak to 22 games dating back to last season.

Young-soo Bae gave up two runs, one earned, in seven innings to pick up the win.

The Giants are now winless and are last in the KBO standings which is not surprising considering that they have finished last four times in the past six years.

Doosan Bears 2 Kia Tigers 5

Jin-woo Kim is certainly not suffering from the sophomore jinx. That can be certain, especially after his outing yesterday in which he gave up one run over eight innings to help the Kia Tigers defeat the Doosan Bears by a score of 5-2 in Chamsil.

Free agent acquisitions Jae-hong Park hit a two-run home run and closer Pil-jung Jin picked up the save for the Tigers against his former team.

Hanhwa Eagles 6, LG Twins 1

Second baseman Soo-min Lim hit a three-run smack into the seats and first baseman Tae-gyun Kim drove in three runs as the Hanhwa Eagles relied on the two soldiers to romp the LG Twins 6-1 in Taejon yesterday. Min-chul Jung pitched six strong innings, giving up one run while fanning six Twinnies.

I was surprised because Eddy Díaz is playing baseball in Korea. Any other Venezuelan playing there? Or latin players?

Nice page.
