Yankee Stadium 1946

by Dave Bager

Q: Did the Yankees dugout used to be on the third base side?

A: Yes. April 19,1946 is when they moved over to the first base side dugout as part of a $600,000 renovation, which included a clubhouse update, the addition of field level boxes, right and left field auxiliary score boards, and they invested $250,000 on lighting.

The first night game at the stadium was May 28,1946 vs Senators.

1946 was also the first time they went over 2,000,000 in attendance. They were also fastest to 1,000,000 attendance.

They were the first mlb team to travel to their next city by commercial airflight.
