Game Six Answer: In 1981, Pedro Guerrero,
Ron Cey and Steve Yeager shared the award for the world champion Dodgers,
who beat the Yankees in six games that October. Guerrero, who slugged .762
in the series, had a monster Game Six, belting a two-run triple, a two-run
single and a solo homer in the 9-2 victory. In Game Five, Guerrero and Yeager
homered back-to-back in the seventh inning, accounting for the 2-1 triumph
that gave the Dodgers a three-games-to-two lead in the series. In Game Four,
Cey drove in two runs and Yeager broke a seventh-inning tie with a sacrifice
fly to help the Dodgers even the series at two games apiece. In Game Three,
Cey drilled a three-run home run in the first inning and scored the game-winning
run in the fifth as part of a perfect day at the plate that helped the Dodgers
win their first game of the series.
