Can you advise where I might find the top ten players for "consecutive games played?"

Dear Guru,

Can you advise where I might find the top ten players for "consecutive games played?" All know of Ripken Jr. and Gehrig. I think that an early day Red Sox player held the record previous to Gehrig and that Steve Garvey holds the NL record at 1,207 games. Any information on others would be appreciated. My thanks,

Joel Patrick

Guru's Response

Joel,

This data is available in the book "Total Baseball." I highly recommend you obtain a copy, it's the ultimate resource. The last version I have was updated through 1996, but a newer one is available in the Guru's book store.

As of 1996, the consecutive games leaders were:

cal ripken jr

lou gehrig

everett scott

steve garvey

billy williams

joe sewell

stan musial

eddie yost

gus suhr

nellie fox
