Japanese vs MLB

Mike Attiyeh wrote:

Hello Jim,

Do you have a list (and results) of the off-season series between MLB and Japan? I would, of course, acknowledge your help.

Thank you,

Mike Attiyeh

Mike:

I don't know how far back you want to go, so I'll give you the links I know of. The first only goes back to 1986:

The second goes back to 1908:

One thing I will note is that up until 1979, the games were usually against actual teams (frequently the Yomiuri Giants). In fact, the Yomiuri Giants are responsible for 8 of the 1960 games against SF, 10 of the 1962 games against Det, all 18 against the Dodgers in 1966, all 18 against StL in 1968, 1 against SF in 1970, all 18 against Bal in 1971, all 18 against the Mets in 1974, and all 18 against Cin in 1978. I am sure of these games because I have Oh's stats in those series in my stuff on Oh. If you want that data and can't find it, let me know and I'll direct you to the right place.

There's a lot of detail available on the 1998 and 2000 tours at:

Hope this helps. Also, unless I hear from you to the contrary, I will be putting this in the mailbag at the baseballguru site. If you want only your initials used rather than your name, I will be glad to oblige if you tell me so.
