About the Author
Hey I'm
43 years old from Kansas City and been a baseball geek...junkie....sad kid
in the back with the calculator...since I can remember. I've read about every
baseball book written and read several sabermetric publications every year.
Before fantasy baseball there was Strat-o-matic (and still is) The best baseball
teacher there is still. I've played Strat and other sims since I was 6 so
don't be afraid to ask questions from that vein. I started the first Roto
league in Kansas City history. I currently play in several sim, fantasy,
online, face to face whatever turns me on at the moment. I am preparing for
my first expert league. Between me and you nowhere are experts more overrated
than fantasy baseball. I'm into numbers and do my research but frankly there
has to be some gut feeling still in this hobby. I learned as much sitting
next to the now deceased Joey Kuhel getting bombed at the Village Inn Lounge
as I did reading the first Bill James Abstracts as a sophomore at Kansas
University in the early 80's. I picked the Angels last year (2002) a lot
on gut feel about the team chemistry along with numbers. I jumped off the
Rick Ankiel boat fast as I saw no historical evidence he could come back
from that particular problem, (In my non-fantasy world I'm a clinical
therapist-so I had some inside info on the poor guy). So I will back my opinions
up with stats/facts but I'm not afraid to shoot from the hip and gamble.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you crash. I try and read from several sources
never being married to any one method. I welcome your questions and comments.
Please tell me the particulars of the league your playing in, i.e., size,
single/combined, categories, keeper etc. Lets get it on!
